Good health for Tun Dr Mahathir, the Malaysian Cabinet prays
The Cabinet (council of ministers) chaired by Prime Minister prays for the health of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is currently under doctor's observation at the National Heart Institute (IJN).
Television station Astro Awani quoted Minister of Communications Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil as saying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the entire Cabinet also expressed their condolences to Mahathir and his family following the passing of his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.
“The government extends its condolences to Mahathir and his family on the passing of Dr Siti Hasmah. The deceased was a highly respected woman figure and stateswoman.
"The Cabinet also prayed for the health of Mahathir, who is currently under doctor's observation at IJN," the country's official news agency Bernama quoted Fahmi as saying at a press conference after the Cabinet Meeting in Putrajaya yesterday.
Previously, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir informed that his father had been admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) since Tuesday 29 September, for observation.
Mokhzani said his father's current condition is good and not worrying, but the decision to admit Mahathir to IJN was made to allow the former Prime Minister to be given attention after the passing of Dr. Siti Hasmah, Bernama reported.
Dr. Siti Hasmah, 100, passed away at IJN on the morning of September 28 and was buried at the National Mausoleum (Pusara Negara), Precinct 20 in Putrajaya on the same day with a State Funeral Ceremony.
