DON'T UNDERESTIMATE DR MAHATHIR

Image
During his second tenure as 7th prime minister, Dr Mahathir had disappointed many people.   But don't forget, the 95-year-old is a political master, super strategist, grand designer and unpredictable. You asked for it... FORMER prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had challenged PPBM Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin to sack him. And Muhyiddìn, his former lieutenant and the current Malaysian  Prime Minister did exactly that.   Mahathir’s successors – Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Mohd Najib Abdul Razak – did not dare sack their former boss.   At the most, Najib regime only dared to harass Mahathir’s wife, 91-year-old Siti Hasmah, by interrogating her in 2018 for participating in an “opposition demonstration”. Congratulation Muhyiddin Yassin!   You have booted Mahathir Mohamad from Bersatu (PPBM), the party that he co-founded in 2016.   Mahathir, who was the party’s chairman, was fired yesterday along with 4 other Bersatu MPs for not supporting Muhyiddin’s backdoor  government. A minister and a deputy minister were supposed to announce that they were crossing over to join Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s camp. It was supposed to have happened at 5pm, but 5pm ticked by with no sign of them or any word from the pair. For a while, the fate of the Perikatan Nasional government seemed to be in the hands of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof and Deputy Works Minister Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh . For days, there had been speculation that Camp Mahathir had promised to make Mohd Redzuan the next deputy prime minister, while Dr Shahruddin was offered a full ministership apart from “remunerations”. The pair have not personally quashed the rumours, although Mohd Redzuan’s political secretary has denied that his boss had called for any pre
