In WASHINGTON, AFP reported that President Donald Trump said yesterday that the peak death rate in the US from the coronavirus pandemic was likely to hit in two weeks and extended “social distancing” guidelines until April 30.

Di Washington, AFP melaporkan Presiden Donald Trump berkata semalam kadar kematian tinggi di Amerika akibat pandemik virus Corona mungkin berterusan selama dua minggu dan garis panduan "penjarakan sosial" dilanjutkan sehingga 30 April 2020.
“Easter should be the peak number,” Trump said of the Christian holiday which falls on April 12.

"Hari Easter akan membawa jumlah tinggi," kata Trump merujuk kepada cuti penganut agama Kristian yang jatuh pada 12 April.
“The modelling estimates that the peak in death rate is likely to hit in two weeks,” the president said during a televised briefing in the Rose Garden of the White House.

Presiden Amerika itu berkata demikian di Rose Garden, Rumah Putih yang disiarkan stesen-stesen talivisyen.
He also abandoned his timetable for life returning to normal in the US, extending emergency coronavirus restrictions for another month, while Spain suffered its deadliest day.

Beliau juga mengenepikan jadual asal kembali seperti biasa di Amerika Syarikat, melanjutkan tempoh kawalan ketat kecemasan virus Corona untuk sebulan lagi. Sepanyol pula sedang mencatat jumlah kematian harian tertinggi.
Trump, who had hoped to shortly reopen much of the US, said the death rate in the country was likely to increase for two weeks and announced “social distancing” guidelines would be in place until at least the end of April.

Kadar kematian yang tinggi tidak membolehkan Trump dengan cepat mengembalikan Amerika kepada keadaan seperti biasa dan tempoh kawalan ketat diteruskan hingga hujung April.

Senior US scientist Anthony Fauci issued a tentative prediction that Covid-19 could claim from 100,000 to 200,000 lives – a figure Trump described as “horrible”.
