IN the Malaysian government central federal territory PUTRAJAYA, the minister of communications and multimedia (MCMC) Gobind Singh Deo said that the authorities will monitor all social media comments on the institution of the monarchy ahead of the meeting by the Conference of Malay Rulers to elect a new Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the official position title of the federal king.

"We have the monitoring system at the MCMC. When a report is made, an investigation will be carried out. The investigation papers will be fowarded to the Attorney-General's Chambers and a decision will be made on the matter," he told reporters today.
He advised social media users should be careful with what they post online.

The Malay rulers will meet on 24 January 2019 to elect the 16th federal king, to replace Sultan Muhammad V who abdicated from the post on 6 January 2019.
Sultan Nazrin Shah Sultan Azlan Shah, the Perak state king is now the Acting Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
