Maslee, you must be dreaming — With highest number of seats in Parliament, we should have Malaysian PAS Prime Minister, not deputy

Are you sure PAS has a better chance to be offered deputy prime minister position if they join Pakatan Harapan? When as far as number of seats in Parliament is concerned, candidates from PAS (Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, or at least, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man), followed by DAP (Encik Anthony Loke Siew Fook) are more qualified as Malaysian prime minister.

I'm not sure if Anthony Loke is not suitably qualified just because he is not a Malay.

Like it or not, PAS and DAP are more qualified than PKR, Bersatu, BN and others in the country's political ordinary structure and normal practice.

In the unity government, nobody is committed and had promised to nominate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister except those component parties in Pakatan Harapan itself. Neither Barisan Nasional nor Sabah and Sarawak parties, including Warisan. So what?

It looks like PH, particularly PKR, is trying to manipulate PAS, for the sake of their own survival, knowing very well that PAS has become more and more powerful and influential among Malays, especially after the Turun Anwar Rally.

As commented by OutSyed The Box recently, PH should pack their things as they are no longer required.

Meanwhile, independent news portal, Malaysiakini, reported today that PKR central leadership member Dr Maszlee Malik (above picture) as saying PAS would be better off joining the coalition government instead of sticking with Perikatan Nasional.

Maslee, the former Bersatu member, said the Islamist party clearly has no confidence in PN chairperson Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and opposition chief Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

PAS spiritual leader Encik Hashim Jasin

This was based on PAS spiritual leader Encik Hashim Jasin’s latest statement, where he reportedly said PAS has many capable leaders to be a prime minister but would only name their candidate after getting into power.

“This kind of political coalition is fragile because they lack confidence in their own leaders.

“PAS should be with the unity government to strengthen the current Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the sake of the rakyat, country and world community.

"If they join the unity government, at least PAS has a better chance to get a deputy prime minister seat, which would help to spur the country’s development,” Maszlee told the news portal.

Power first

KiniTV Video produced by Malaysiakini dated 29 July 2025.

The former education minister was asked to respond to Hashim, who was quoted by Malay daily Utusan Malaysia this morning as saying PN should be given the mandate to lead Malaysia first before announcing their prime minister candidate.

Pointing to the era of former PAS spiritual leader Tan Sri Nik Aziz Nik Mat as Kelantan menteri besar between 1990 and 2013, Hashim said ulama have also been proven to be capable as a state leader.

“Professionals are not the only ones who are eligible for nomination, because ulama also have the quality to be a good state leader.

"The same is with the situation now, while we have yet to see who will be the ‘poster boy’, but give us the mandate first, then we will name our candidate, and we will lead the country better than the current government,” Hashim reportedly said.

PKR secretary-general Puan Fuziah Salleh was unfazed by Hashim’s statement.

Instead, she dared the opposition to call for a no-confidence vote against Anwar.

"Try to call for a no-confidence vote in Parliament first,” Fuziah said in a brief text message to Malaysiakini.
