Ramadan in Malaysia begins on Sunday, Indonesia tomorrow

Muslims in Malaysia will begin fasting on Sunday (March 2), the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, announced today. The announcement, made live on television, came after religious officials gathered at 29 locations across the country to attempt a sighting of the new moon. The Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal had previously announced that the Conference of Rulers had agreed that the determination of the beginning of Ramadan would be based on Rukyah (sighting of the moon) and Hisab (astronomical calculations). Meanwhile, Bernama reported Muslims in Indonesia will begin fasting on Saturday (1March 2025), while those in Singapore, Thailand, and Cambodia will commence fasting on Sunday (2 March).
