In a statement today, the group said Tan, who has been the company’s president, COO, and executive director for the past 18 years, will continue serving as president and executive director while taking on the CEO’s role.
The group added that Lim will remain as executive chairman, crediting him for expanding the group into a global conglomerate.
“Under Lim’s stewardship, Genting and its subsidiaries have operations spanning across the globe from its origins in Malaysia.
“The group has expanded its operations in leisure and hospitality, oil palm plantations, power generation, oil and gas, and property development, as well as invested in life sciences and biotechnology activities,” it added.
Lim congratulated Tan on his appointment as CEO, acknowledging his contributions to the company and expressing confidence in his leadership.
“Tan joined the company in 2007 as president and COO, became a director in 2020, and is now stepping into the CEO’s role as part of a multi-year succession plan,” he said.
