Continuous heavy rain is expected to cause floods in nine districts in Kelantan and three districts of Pahang until Wednesday, FMT reported today.
The Kelantan districts are Kota Bharu, Tumpat, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Mas, Pasir Puteh, Tanah Merah, Kuala Krai and Jeli, while those in Pahang are Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin.
The warning from the National Flood Forecasting Centre followed an alert of continuous rain issued by the meteorological department today.
Areas within the river basins of the Kelantan, Golok and Kemasin rivers are most likely to suffer flooding.
Among the locations in Kuantan are areas in the river basins of the Kuantan, Lembing, Kenau, Beserah, Belat and Soi rivers, and the basins of the Bebar, Miang, Pahang and Mercung rivers in Pekan. In Rompin, the areas are the basins of the Endau, Rompin and Pontian Pahang rivers.
