"Daddy....... "
The daughter of former Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak shared her disappointment regarding the temporary postponement of Najib's house arrest, as informed by the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC).
Through a video post on Instagram, Nooryana Najwa stated that her side had worked to fulfill the requirements, including paying a RM50 million fine to allow Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence at home, reported Malay-language newspaper and news portal Kosmo! today.
"We were informed that the prison authorities would bring father home after receiving the court order. First we were told 5:00 PM, then it changed to 8:30 PM. So we waited, but around 2:00 PM today, we received information that the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) was trying to postpone Datuk Seri Najib's release."
"Even so, we were still confident because in terms of procedure and the court order that had already been issued, it should have been sufficient. But in the end, the AGC issued a statement to postpone the process."
"I don't want to comment extensively on legal matters, I leave that to our lawyers. As a child, I am truly very disappointed; we followed what was stipulated in His Majesty’s conditional pardon order, we raised funds, paid the RM50 million fine, and followed the established process," she said in the video.
Nooryana Najwa also questioned whether there were other conditions that had not been communicated to them earlier.
"If there were other conditions, why weren't they communicated from the start, and if there are still obstacles, why accept the RM50 million payment today? What is happening reminds us of our experience regarding the addendum order previously."
"Every time we feel father is close to coming home, there is a new obstacle. Until when? We are only asking for justice, transparency, for His Majesty's order to be respected, and for the rule of law to be upheld," she said.
Meanwhile, she mentioned that her family had been prepared to welcome Najib back today.
"But tonight, it seems it is not our fortune yet. Since this morning, Yana and the family have been continuously communicating with various parties to ensure everything goes smoothly, so that father could return home today."
Ending the video, Nooryana Najwa also expressed hope that her father would stay strong and shared that they are continually working to ensure Najib's return home.
"To daddy, I know you aren't watching [this video] tonight, but I hope you know we are doing everything we can to bring you back. We know you miss this family; all of us miss you too much."
"Daddy, please be strong, we are still trying. To Datuk Seri Najib's supporters, thank you for always being with us. We need your voices, keep speaking out to demand continuous justice."
"We do not want to spread hate, but to make sure the truth and the law are upheld. May Allah bless our efforts," she added.
She also thanked everyone, including Najib's supporters, who contributed to the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund.
