A passer-by killed while assisting traffic, soon after a motorcyclist died from head injuries
In Johor Bahru, a passer-by who took it upon himself to direct traffic at the site of an accident in which a motorcyclist was killed, was hit by a car apparently driven by a drunk driver, FMT reported today, based on another news report by Bernama.
The 37-year-old man died in the incident at 2.10am.
This came soon after a Myanmar national in his 30s crashed his motorcycle in the right lane at KM 16 of Jalan Johor Bahru-Kota Tinggi, Johor, and died from head injuries.
Seri Alam police chief Encik Sohaimi Ishak (picture, above) said the local man, who was nearby, stopped to assist by alerting other motorists and managing traffic around the crash site while waiting for emergency services.
“However, a BMW driven by a 25-year-old man suddenly struck him, causing serious internal injuries,” Bernama quoted him as saying.
The Good Samaritan died at the scene while the car driver sustained minor facial injuries.
Sohaimi said initial investigations found that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He has been remanded for four days to facilitate further investigations.
Those with information on the incident are urged to contact the police at 07-3864222, to assist in the investigation.
