Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim watches Siti Nurhaliza's concert in the rain

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim joined approximately 63,000 fans to watch national singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza perform at the Gema Bumantara Traditional Concert at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, last night.

According to Buletin TV3, Anwar's presence enlivened the concert which took place in the rain, with him seen wearing a raincoat while enjoying the performance with other spectators.


The performance, which began at 8.30pm, saw fans fill the stadium and endure despite the rain falling throughout the event, thus showing their support for the famous singer.

Siti, who was aware of the Prime Minister's presence, expressed her appreciation to Anwar for taking the time to attend the concert despite having a busy schedule.

"We are honored to welcome our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"Thank you for coming to enliven my biggest traditional music concert," she said while on stage after performing a duet with guest singer, Haziq Rosebi.

Anwar was also seen sitting next to Siti's husband, Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, while watching the performance which highlighted traditional music and the heritage of the archipelago.

Siti also joked about the rain that drenched the audience, while describing the concert as a dream that was finally realized at the country's largest stadium.

"Regardless, this is a dream come true for me. I myself am not sure when this dream will be realized.

"Finally, it's happening here, in the country's largest stadium," he said, to thunderous cheers and applause from the audience.

The Gema Bumantara concert also featured a line-up of guest artists including Noraniza Idris, Haziq Rosebi as well as Indonesian singers, Lesti Kejora and King Nassar.

Through a three-hour performance featuring over 30 classic songs, Siti also highlighted the uniqueness of traditional music through performances of zapin dance, wayang kulit and heritage clothing.

The concert was held nine months after Siti Nurhaliza's Legacy 30 Concert which took place at the same location on 10 January, with 65,000 fans in attendance.

Apart from being a sign of appreciation to fans, Gema Bumantara also carries the mission of reviving and strengthening appreciation for traditional music among different generations.

Shah Alam City YESTERDAY, FMT reported that the capital city of Selangor had become very quiet, slow and almost no business, many buildings unoccupied, which one of them only utilised by less than ten staff of a company. Beliau merupakan bekas pegawai khas kepada Rafizi Ramli.
