Instead of sobbing bitterly, it's better to resign

A well-known news portal today published public reaction views in English expressing disappointment and anger toward the Malaysian Education Minister.

This is related to a fatal incident, believed to be a murder, involving a female student.

Previously, there was also a brutal murder of a female student who was believed to have been stabbed dozens of times in a school toilet by a male student, who was rumored to be frustrated by a broken romance.

No rational person expects or wants something like this to happen. And every time an incident like this occurs, the Minister of Education is blamed. Is it fair or not?

Below, I quote the writings of the famous blogger, Tuan Syed Akbar Ali, published on his blog, Outsyed the Box, yesterday, Monday, 5 October 2026, regarding a list of similar or nearly similar incidents, as well as bullying, involving students, including students at higher education institutions:

DEATH TOLL BY BULLYING IS INCREASING IN SCHOOLS, UNIVERSITIES 

1. Latest case: Oct 3 2026 BATU PAHAT – 3 male students detained over murder of Form 4 female student. Body discovered at her school in Yong Peng, Johor, on 3 October.

16-year-old Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, found dead in school hall 5.30pm. Police arrested three 16-year-old suspects, who attend same school hours after the body was found.

Teenager found with dried blood on her body, bruising consistent with being assaulted.

2. Last week : 30 September 2026. Fatal beating of 14-year-old student Muhammad Idlan Fareeq Shahril, death of  14-year-old student at Malaysian boarding school 

Police in Kuala Pilah detained two 16-year-old students. Informal disciplinary rules operate behind closed boarding school doors.

Idlan was caught vaping by a hostel warden on 23 September.

Two days later, a 16-year-old student instructed to bring Idlan to dormitory where he was struck on soles of feet with rubber hosepipe, forced to remove his shirt, hit on chest, back until he collapsed.

Police investigating bullying involving several of the students. One suspect had previously bullied (others) 

3. July 17 2025 : Zara Qairina death painful memories of death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir.

High-profile death of Zara Qairina Mahathir last year behind dormitory doors. Pronounced dead on 17 July last year.

Found unconscious dormitory at an Islamic boarding school in Sabah.

4. Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) student killed in May 2017 Victim: Navy cadet officer Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain (aged 21).

Tortured with steam iron, beaten at Jebat Hostel block 21 - 22 May 2017 over false accusation of laptop theft.

He passed away on 1 June 2017.

In February 2025, Federal Court set aside death sentences for 6 UPNM students. Restoring their original 18-year prison sentences for culpable homicide.

These were all cases of bullying. I have only two comments. 

No. 1. You cannot ask a monkey to take care of bananas. 

No. 2. What does that mean? It means you just have to wait for the next murder, death or killing in the schools, hostels, universities etc.

Shah Alam City YESTERDAY, FMT reported that the capital city of Selangor had become very quiet, slow and almost no business, many buildings unoccupied, which one of them only utilised by less than ten staff of a company. Some factories closed down, businesses from petty traders to big timers closed shops for the past six months and so on. Even foreign business people from Indonesia and Pakistan decided to go back to their respective countries or moved to other places. Dalam satu perkembangan yang agak memeranjatkan, teraju utama Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli mengesahkan Encik Syukri Razab ( gambar , atas sekali ) adalah presiden parti itu dan namanya berdaftar dengan Pendaftar Pertubuhan (RoS - Registrar of Society) Malaysia. Beliau merupakan bekas pegawai khas kepada Rafizi Ramli. Selepas pengambilalihan parti tersebut, Rafizi dan Encik Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad mengambil alih peranan sebagai peneraju utama parti, namun Syukri Razab kekal memegang jawatan Presiden Parti Bersama.
