Ex-Finance Minister and aide defend their decisions to revise LRT3 project budget

Former Finance Minister Encik Lim Guan Eng and his former aide Encik Tony Pua have defended their decisions to revise the budget for the LRT3 project when they were in office, reported news portal Malaysiakini yesterday.

This is after Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah accused the duo of slashing the project's funding without due consideration for the public.

In a statement, Lim and Pua explained that the cuts were because of ballooning project costs, and aimed at prioritising functionality, without impacting passenger demand.

This includes the potential of saving RM10 billion in interest over the next 25 to 30 years, as a result of a lower debt burden from the lower cost of LRT3.

MAHATHIR MAY REJOIN UMNO

What Mahathir expected did not happen Initially, Mahathir Mohamad thought his party – PPBM (Bersatu) – could  morph  into a new version of UMNO. After all, it was him who brilliantly destroyed the original UMNO in 1988 and created “UMNO Baru” (the current UMNO version 2.0). Dua tokoh parti politik yang sukar dipisahkan dari imej rasuah , semakin panas bertelagah Rentak Madani 🎵 Akhbar Sinar Harian melaporkan semalam bahawa Ketua Pemuda UMNO, Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh mencabar Ahli Majlis Kerja Tertinggi (MKT) UMNO,  Datuk Lokman Noor Adam  supaya berdepan dengannya sama ada di mahkamah ataupun di gelanggang, berikutan tuduhan kononnya beliau mempunyai agenda tersembunyi untuk menaikkan  Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein  sebagai Perdana Menteri. Shah Alam City YESTERDAY, FMT reported that the capital city of Selangor had become very quiet, slow and almost no business, many buildings unoccupied, which one of them only utilised by less than ten staff of a company. Some factories closed down, businesses from petty traders to big timers closed shops for the past six months and so on. Analysts say Johor state elections will be PH Vs BN — but they overlook Bersama PAS and Bersatu are expected to face a rough ride in the upcoming Johor state election, as both parties look set to go their own way while their potential allies appear lacklustre. Dalam satu perkembangan yang agak memeranjatkan, teraju utama Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli mengesahkan Encik Syukri Razab ( gambar , atas sekali ) adalah presiden parti itu dan namanya berdaftar dengan Pendaftar Pertubuhan (RoS - Registrar of Society) Malaysia. Beliau merupakan bekas pegawai khas kepada Rafizi Ramli. Selepas pengambilalihan parti tersebut, Rafizi dan Encik Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad mengambil alih peranan sebagai peneraju utama parti, namun Syukri Razab kekal memegang jawatan Presiden Parti Bersama. What I think about Rafizi’s new Party, BERSAMA By the way, that was me signing my application to join PPBM or Bersatu back in 2016. I was excited to welcome a new party that can reset Malaysia after Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak’s 1MDB. I was probably as excited as some of you planning to join Datuk Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli’s Bersama political party. My PPBM membership was 000068. Talk about being one of the first. Najib lost PRU14 in 2018 bringing the collapse of UMNO dominance since Merdeka.  Najib said UMNO would be dominant for 1000 years but in reality UMNO lasted just 61 years. Hubris was Najib’s downfall.  Tun M was at the helm and I was excited, finally we would see progress. I was wrong. Agensi berita rasmi Malaysia Bernama melaporkan Istana Pahang semalam mengisytiharkan Sultan Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah berkenan mengurniakan gelaran Tengku Puan Bendahara kepada Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan. Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Sultan Pahang Mejar Jeneral Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya menerusi pengisytiharan memaklumkan gelaran berkenaan berkuat kuasa mulai 1 Januari 2026.
