Ustaz Lah, female secretary claim trial
An independent preacher and social media influencer claimed trial in the Seremban sessions court today to 34 charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving more than RM13 million belonging to an NGO.
Referring to Utusan Malaysia's news report, FMT said that Encik Abdullah Abdol Razak, also known as Ustaz Lah, was also charged with 17 counts of money laundering involving RM1.56 million.
Abdullah, 40, pleaded not guilty after the charges against him were read out in court before judge Puan M Kunasundary.
Abdullah is charged with dishonestly disposing of funds belonging to Pertubuhan Rezeki Infaq Malaysia (PRIM) in breach of the NGO’s constitution.
He allegedly committed the offences at a bank in Seremban between Feb 28, 2023 and March 31, 2026 by approving cash payments to several bank accounts, including his own, without permission from the NGO’s supreme council.
The charges were framed under Section 409 of the Penal Code for CBT, which provides for two to 20 years’ imprisonment, a fine and whipping upon conviction.
Abdullah is also accused of transferring RM1.56 million in proceeds from illegal activities from several bank accounts, including his own, to other accounts to purchase gold between 18 May 2024 and 24 February 2026.
The money laundering charges were framed under Section 4(1)(b) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001, which provides for up to 15 years’ imprisonment and a fine of not less than five times the value of the illegal proceeds or RM5 million, whichever is higher.
PRIM secretary Cik Noor Sahira Abdullah, 30, was separately charged with abetting Abdullah in committing CBT under Section 109 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 409.
Noor Sahira claimed trial to all charges. The court set 28 September for case mention.
