Referring to news from the Malaysian official news agency Bernama, news portal FMT reported that a one-month-old baby boy was injured after being thrown from a car in a crash involving two vehicles along the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin highway near a petrol station in Balai Panjang, Melaka, last night.
At the time, the baby was seated on the mother’s lap in the rear passenger seat. The baby landed on the grass verge by the roadside, acting Melaka Tengah police chief Encik Halim Abas reportedly said.
In a statement today, Halim also said: “The baby suffered swelling to the head, while the mother experienced back pain. The father, who was driving, was uninjured."
Halim explained the incident occurred at about 10pm when the car was exiting a petrol station and was involved in a crash with another vehicle.
Halim said both victims were treated at Melaka Hospital before being allowed to return home after they were confirmed to be in stable condition.
He said police had identified the other vehicle involved in the incident and further investigations into the case were being carried out.
