Finally, Zaid Ibrahim is confident in the credibility of PAS

S Thayaparan is a prominent columnist for Malaysiakini. Known for his sharp and unapologetic commentary, his articles focus heavily on Malaysian politics, institutional accountability, race and religion, and the policies of the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim administration

Thayaparan is a friend and a good writer. His lengthy piece in Malaysiakini is brilliant. He asks how I can carry water for PAS? He quoted many things I had said about Pas many years ago that were critical of theocratic or ulamaks' leadership.

All of them are correct. For many years, I believed Pas would not be suitable to govern the country because they were talking of the traditional concept of an Islamic state. PAS would not have been suitable for the Malays, either, if they had pursued that model. 

Today, PAS idea of an Islamic state has evolved; one that addresses inequality, wealth redistribution, and unjust laws. 

References to Hadi Awang's recent speeches would point to that trajectory.

PAS is no longer that party of the 90s. It has now changed to become a democratic party seeking the mandate of the people of all races to govern the country.

PAS is no longer a party of clerics. It has many members who are ordinary Malays. Many of them are highly educated, technocrats, and professionals in various fields. PAS suffers from the image of the past, but that can be sorted out.

PAS did not ask me to disavow my views about them before accepting me. They did not ask for a confession of my errors. They accepted me for who I am, and I accepted them for what they are today.

To be useful to PAS, I need to devote my efforts to alleviating poverty, bringing justice to the people, and, where possible, modernising the country's administration. PAS is the platform most suitable for my plans.

I do not have to change the Party's governing philosophy, be in the Syura Council, or undertake a wholesale change in the President's views. There is enough space in PAS for me to do what I can, and within my means, to help the country.

Australian political analyst says Malaysian PM's political party, PKR is in collapse

While Malaysian prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is on an official visit to Italy, Spain and Brazil to attend the BRICS summit, his own Peoples’ Justice Party (PKR) is in rapid collapse at home. News is emerging from chat groups and pundits there are mass branch resignations of members across more than 200 branches nationwide. Some branches just don’t exist anymore. OVERCONCENTRATION OF A MALAY POPULATION MAKES SHAH ALAM A GHOST CITY, SAYS ANALYST

Shah Alam City YESTERDAY, FMT reported that the capital city of Selangor had become very quiet, slow and almost no business, many buildings unoccupied, which one of them only utilised by less than ten staff of a company. Some factories closed down, businesses from petty traders to big timers closed shops for the past six months and so on. Bersama expected to win half of PKR, DAP and Amanah's existing parliamentary and state seats in Johor

Analysts say Johor state elections will be PH Vs BN — but they overlook Bersama PAS and Bersatu are expected to face a rough ride in the upcoming Johor state election, as both parties look set to go their own way while their potential allies appear lacklustre. Dalam satu perkembangan yang agak memeranjatkan, teraju utama Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli mengesahkan Encik Syukri Razab ( gambar , atas sekali ) adalah presiden parti itu dan namanya berdaftar dengan Pendaftar Pertubuhan (RoS - Registrar of Society) Malaysia. Beliau merupakan bekas pegawai khas kepada Rafizi Ramli. Selepas pengambilalihan parti tersebut, Rafizi dan Encik Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad mengambil alih peranan sebagai peneraju utama parti, namun Syukri Razab kekal memegang jawatan Presiden Parti Bersama. Agensi berita rasmi Malaysia Bernama melaporkan Istana Pahang semalam mengisytiharkan Sultan Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah berkenan mengurniakan gelaran Tengku Puan Bendahara kepada Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan. Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Sultan Pahang Mejar Jeneral Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya menerusi pengisytiharan memaklumkan gelaran berkenaan berkuat kuasa mulai 1 Januari 2026.
