Not Constructive At All – Blaming Each Other Amid Ringgit Serious Depreciation

News portal from the mainstream media FMT quoted Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu as saying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is to blame for the ringgit’s record decline, not the opposition.

He was responding to a Facebook post by former Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Salleh Said Keruak, who said the opposition’s constant claims about trying to topple the government meant they should shoulder some of the blame for the weak ringgit.

Faizal said Anwar had also claimed that he had a formidable and convincing majority to take over the government when he was the opposition leader.

He took aim at Anwar’s previous stint as finance minister, noting that the last record drop in the currency occurred during that period.

“Once upon a time, an ambitious finance minister spoke about an ‘Asian renaissance’. At the end of his tenure as finance minister, the ringgit fell to the lowest ever recorded. The name of that finance minister was Anwar,” he told the news portal.

“Today, the ringgit has once again fallen to its lowest in more than two decades. And our finance minister is Anwar. Coincidence?”

Faizal criticised Salleh for pushing the blame to the opposition, saying that he should instead find ways to strengthen the economy and curb the ringgit’s free fall.

“He is trying to stay relevant when he is not,” he said.

During Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak's tenure as prime minister, Salleh was obviously seen as Najib's strong supporter. 

Najib is no longer in power. Probably now, he has a new boss to support wholeheartedly. Boss is always right even though when he is wrong.

Representing 22,000 lawyers, Malaysian Bar to challenge Pardons Board's reduced Najib's jail sentence and fine

Media reported the Malaysian Bar has filed for judicial review to challenge the decision of the Federal Territories Pardons Board (FTPB) to halve former prime minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak’s jail sentence and reduce the fine in his SRC International corruption conviction. In the application filed by solicitors Messrs Amir & Rajpal Ghat in the High Court last Friday, the Bar, which represents 22,000 lawyers practising in Peninsular Malaysia, sought a declaration that the board’s collective decision was unlawful, unconstitutional and void, according to FMT . It also requested an order of certiorari against the board to quash the FTPB’s decision. The board and Najib are named as respondents to the application. The Bar also wants a permanent injunction restraining Najib or his agents from submitting any application for pardon, reprieve or respite to the board until all criminal charges against him have been exhausted. Memalukan kerajaan negeri Johor, kata Menteri Besar Akhbar Harian Metro semalam melaporkan Menteri Besar Johor Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi menyifatkan insiden gangguan bekalan elektrik di Kompleks Kastam, Imigresen dan Kuarantin (CIQ) Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Tambak Johor sebagai memalukan kerajaan negeri.
