GENTING HIGHLANDS CASINO MAY BE RE-OPENED AS EARLY AS MAY 14
May 13 is unlikely as many Malaysian Chinese businessmen consider 13 as unlucky number. Furthermore, on May 13, 1969, a tragedy and riot occurred referring to the Sino-Malay sectarian violence in Kuala Lumpur.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced last week that he was lifting “almost all economic sectors and business activities” starting from Monday 4 May, provided businesses were able to implement social distancing measures while operational.
While many have done just that, Genting Malaysia confirmed on Wednesday 6 May 2020 that Resorts World Genting, as well as hotels and facilities at Resorts World Awana, Resorts World Kijal and Resorts World Langkawi, would remain closed until at least 12 May – the date it announced in late April.
Despite the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), [the properties] will remain closed until further notice,” Genting Malaysia said. “We will continue to monitor the situation and make the necessary announcements as more information becomes available.
All four properties will have been closed for 56 days as of 12 May 2020.
