For years, rumors to be awarded Datuk title, but nothing materialized to-date
Singer, Cik Ziana Zain, emphasized that she had never sought the title of Datuk even though rumors about the award had been circulating for years.
Ziana or her full name, Siti Roziana Zain, 58, said, she left the matter completely to the sustenance and provisions of Allah SWT without needing to think too much about it.
She said, her main goal while being involved in the arts industry is to consistently entertain fans and not chase any recognition or datukship award.
"I don't know what to say because this issue has been going on for years. Just pray for the best and if that's my fortune, then that's my fortune.
"The most important thing is that as a singer, I am still here. This is a very important thing for me," she said.
Ziana shared this matter when met by Utusan Malaysia reporter during the Music Lab: AJL40 Creative Hub media conference at McDonald's Drive-Thru, Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, today, Saturday 11 July 2026.
Ziana said that throughout her career in the world of art, she never expected to receive any official offer regarding the awarding of such a title.
"I don't chase titles and in my life I don't expect them. You need to have a class of your own by letting things come to you, instead of you chasing them," she said.
In another development, the Malay daily said that Muzik Lab, organized by McDonald's Malaysia together with the Ronald McDonald Good Association (RMHC Malaysia), is an initiative that gives people the opportunity to explore the music industry through collaboration and performance with arts activists.
Through the introduction of the Music Lab, AJL40 completes its four decades of advocacy by offering a new dimension to fans to not only enjoy music, but also to understand the journey behind each work and appreciate individuals behind the works that continue to develop the country's music industry.
