FMT reported today, a deputy CEO of the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) pleaded not guilty at the sessions court in Kuala Lumpur to a charge of receiving RM50,000 in cash from the son of ex-Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, eight years ago.
Encik Khuzairi Yahaya was alleged to have received the money from Faisal Hamzah without consideration, despite knowing Faisal had official dealings with him in his capacity as a public servant.
The said offence, under Section 165 of the Penal Code, is alleged to have taken place at SSM’s headquarters in Jalan Stesen 5, KL Sentral, in May 2018.
If found guilty, Khuzairi faces imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both.
Judge Puan Suzana Hussin fixed bail at RM15,000 with one surety, and ordered that he surrender his passport to the court pending disposal of his trial.
She also fixed the matter for case management on 20 April.
Lawyer Encik Aizat Fakri represented Khuzairi while deputy public prosecutor Encik Fadhly Zamry appeared for the prosecution.
