Malaysia has enough fuel supply for now
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said Malaysia’s current supply of petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) remains stable, with no shortages reported so far, national official news agency Bernama reported today.
He said the issues that have been raised so far were isolated logistical cases, which saw delivery delays of a few hours in certain locations, particularly during the festive season when demand increased.
“These issues have been addressed, and constant monitoring is ongoing to ensure smooth supply delivery,” he said on Facebook today after a courtesy call on Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.
Armizan urged the public not to engage in panic buying, as fuel supplies are sufficient.
“I would like to remind the public that the sale and filling of fuel outside vehicle tanks without a special permit is an offence.
“The ministry will take firm action against violators. The public is urged to report suspicious activity via the ministry’s complaint platform. Petrol station operators are also reminded to comply with regulations and report any violations to the authorities,” he said.
Bernama also reported that Hajiji stressed the importance of a consistent fuel supply to support the state’s economy, particularly the logistics, fisheries, and agriculture sectors, which rely heavily on diesel.
