Murder case in Marang, Terengganu
Malaysian official news agency Bernama reported a 43-year-old man is believed to have been bludgeoned to death with a hammer by his younger brother in the family home at Kampung Tasek, near Marang, Terengganu yesterday. Encik Nasir Ismail, the eldest of nine siblings, succumbed to severe head injuries in the attack.
His mother, Puan Hasnah Sulong, 63, said she was in the living room when she heard screams and the sounds of a struggle from another part of the house “I immediately called my husband, Encik Ismail Ibrahim, 80, who was outside When he came in, he saw Nasir covered in blood with severe head injuries,” she said.
Hasnah said her second child, who has a history of mental health issues, is suspected to be involved in the incident. Her daughter Puan Rurazmiza, 36, sustained back injuries after being struck with the hammer while trying to stop the fight.
She said her husband was stabbed in a similar attack 12 years ago.
Marang police chief Saari Mohamed confirmed the incident when contacted by Bernama.
