Responding to criticism by the public, Police clarified that they are investigating a road accident in Putrajaya involving a 13-year-old schoolgirl and a motorcyclist after a post about the incident went viral on social media.

As reported by FMT last night, Putrajaya police chief Encik Aidi Sham Mohamed said they were aware of a post by an account-holder named “The Seeker” (@theseekerlyfe), which contained dashcam footage of the accident and criticised inaction by the police.

He said police received a report on an accident at about 7.05am on 19 August along Jalan P5A/5, in front of SMK PP 5(1) in Presint 5.

“The accident involved a motorcycle ridden by a 47-year-old man and a 13-year-old female student who was crossing the road.

“The student suffered minor injuries to both knees and legs as a result,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.

The investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions.
