If You're Not Wrong, What's There to Be Afraid Of?

CRYING FOR HELP?

"A Malaysian Indian named M Saravanan who was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Session Court today with three counts of accepting bribes totaling RM1.097 million has pleaded not guilty and asked to stand trial," was how a well-known Malaysian political writer began his writing in a Facebook post on Friday, 28 August 2026.

The writer, Encik Mohd Sayuti Omar (Facebook picture, top), said that Datuk Seri M Saravanan expressed regret over the accusation, considering the accusation to be wild and made by someone who deliberately wanted to harm him.

"Saravanan also denied in his media statements after the accusation that he had asked the Prime Minister to help him through a letter, but instead the letter he sent only wanted his case to be investigated transparently and wanted justice to be given to him. He did not even ask the PM for help.

"He wrote a letter to the prime minister telling what happened. When the PM said the letter was not received, he slammed PM (Datuk Seri) Anwar Ibrahim because the letter was sent (through) various channels. If he didn't expect anything from the letter, why write to the PM," asked Sayuti.

Sayuti advised the former Human Resources Minister not to create various narratives behind the accusations, let alone hope for public sympathy and condemnation.

"If you feel you're right, just face it in court. If we are on the right side, why should we be afraid? The court gives everyone a chance at justice without any doubt."

Sayuti was right when he said: "If you are convinced you are on the right side, answer in court later. Present evidence and defend yourself adequately from the dock. You don't have to be afraid if you are not guilty. Be brave because you are right, be afraid because you are wrong. If you get caught, you have to wash it off, otherwise it will stink," the famous writer quipped.

According to this experienced writer, the charges against the MIC deputy president are not at all strange because his leader in Barisan Nasional had previously listed the people who would be charged if BN lost, one of whom was Saravanan himself.
