FMT reported just now that a fuel tanker carrying 32,000 litres of diesel and petrol crashed into a car at Km9 of Jalan Temerloh-Triang today, causing both vehicles to burst into flames, with two occupants of the car feared dead.
Temerloh police chief Nasyim Bahron said initial investigations found that the tanker, which was travelling from Seremban to Temerloh, was believed to have lost control and entered the opposite lane before crashing into the car.
“The collision caused both vehicles to catch fire. However, the 37-year-old tanker driver managed to escape and suffered only minor injuries,” he said when contacted.
Nasyim said the identities and number of occupants in the car have yet to be confirmed due to the condition of the wreckage, while firefighting operations took time as the incident involved fuel.
He said the tanker driver would be detained to assist in investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
