Welcome back Najib, the 10th PM

Mohd Najib Abdul Razak

Latest development in UMNO shows the Pekan MP, coincidentally from the King's hometown, is on the way to Putrajaya

People may reject Najib without question if other leaders from both sides, government and opposition, are not seen involved in corruption, not to mention frogs

It's just a matter of whether you are caught and prosecuted or protected and escaped

Are all politicians born to corrupt?

In separate but related development, two analysts are at odds on whether Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s removal from the UMNO Supreme Council will see other members toe the line.

Anantha Raman Govindasamy

Interviewed by FMT, Anantha Raman Govindasamy of Universiti Malaysia Sabah said he believed members would conform, but Universiti Sains Malaysia’s Azeem Fazwan Ahmad Farouk said dissent would not be stifled.

Anantha told the news portal he saw the Pasir Salak MP’s removal as a warning shot, that those failing to adhere to council’s decisions would be in trouble.

The UMNO grassroots desired such obedience, he said. “They want a unified party, not a factionalised one.”

He also said the grassroots would appreciate a strong leader in the party and that Tajuddin’s removal would strengthen Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s position as president.

Strengthened Ahmad Zahid can possibly make Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak the 10th prime minister, opines Permadu Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Azeem said it would be impossible to expect everyone to toe the line as there would be members who would continue to speak up.

He noted that federal ministers Tan Sri Annuar Musa and Khairy Jamaluddin had openly opposed Ahmad Zahid.

“There are already dissenting voices within the party, which will create factionalised politics,” he said.

Tajuddin was removed from the Supreme Council last week. Ahmad Zahid said he was dropped for being critical of the party. He did not elaborate.

He also said all decisions finalised by the party’s leadership must be complied with although Supreme Council members were allowed to differ in their opinions.
