Malaysian Muslims will celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri tomorrow

'Sighting the moon' by the Islamic authority to determine the first day of Syawal

MUSLIMS in Malaysia will celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri tomorrow, Wednesday 5 June 2019, on the first day of the Islamic month of Syawal, upon completion of fasting for 30 days this year in the whole month of Ramadan.

The announcement was made by the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal Syed Danial Syed Ahmad in Kuala Lumpur last night, Monday 3 June 2019.

"In following the decree by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, after consent from the Malay rulers, I hereby declare the date for Aidilfitri for all the states in Malaysia is Wednesday, June 5, 2019," he said.

Bernama reported that the announcement was broadcast live by local television stations.
