News portal FMT reported Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had congratulated Barisan Nasional (BN) on its victory in the Johor state election, saying it is now “time to move forward” and work together to build a more prosperous and progressive state.
Anwar, the Pakatan Harapan chairman, said he hoped BN would carry out its responsibilities in the best interests of the state and its people.
The PKR president also reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to Johor, saying Putrajaya would continue strengthening the state’s development agenda and improving the well-being of its people.
“The election and the democratic process have come to an end. Now is the time for us to move forward, prioritise service and our responsibility to the people, and work together to build a more prosperous and progressive Johor,” FMT quoted Anwar as saying, referring to his Facebook post.
The Tambun MP also expressed his appreciation to Johor voters for fulfilling their civic duty, as well as to election workers and party machinery who worked tirelessly throughout the campaign.
He said all PH candidates, regardless of whether they won or lost, have been instructed to continue serving the people and highlighting their concerns.
Earlier last night, PH’s Johor election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the coalition had won eight seats, with DAP winning six and PKR and Amanah securing one each. PH contested all 56 seats.
