Angan-angan Mat Jenin English Version
One day, a hardworking farmer was rewarded by his employer for his dedication and honesty. As a token of appreciation, his boss gave him half a bag of rice.
The farmer was overjoyed. He thanked his boss repeatedly, carried the bag of rice on his shoulder, and happily made his way home.
When he arrived, instead of cooking the rice or storing it properly, he tied the bag above his bed and lay down beneath it.
As he stared at the bag, his imagination began to run wild.
"If I cook this rice," he thought, "it will soon be finished, and I'll be hungry again. But if I sell it in the market, I can use the money to buy a few hens."
The dream continued to grow. "The hens will lay eggs every day. I'll sell the eggs and make enough money to buy a few goats."
He smiled to himself. "The goats will multiply, and I'll sell some of them to buy a cow."
Now he could almost see it happening. "The cow will produce milk. I'll sell the milk and become rich. Then I'll buy more land, build a beautiful house, get married, and have wonderful children."
His excitement kept growing. "My children will run around the compound while I sit proudly in front of my big house. If they become stubborn, I'll simply stretch out my leg like this and tell them to behave!"
Without realizing it, he acted out his imagination. He kicked his leg high into the air. His foot struck the bag of rice hanging above him.
The rope snapped. The bag crashed onto the floor and burst open. Rice scattered in every direction, mixing with dust, sand, and dirt.
The farmer jumped up in horror. He stared helplessly at the ruined rice—the only wealth he actually possessed.
In a single careless moment, all his grand plans vanished. He sank to the floor, holding his head in regret.
Only then did he realize that he had spent so much time dreaming about tomorrow that he had failed to protect what he already had today.
From that day forward, the farmer learned to dream with wisdom, but to act with care. He understood that every great future begins by taking good care of today's opportunities.
Moral of the story
Dreams are important, but dreams without wise action can lead to disappointment. Plan for the future, but never neglect the opportunities and responsibilities you have today. Success is built one careful step at a time, not by imagination alone.
