Court orders Rosmah Mansor to pay more than 67 million Malaysian Ringgit to a Lebanese jewelry company
Media in Malaysia reported today that the Kuala Lumpur High Court has ordered Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor to pay a total of Malaysian Ringgit 67,461,027.37 to Lebanese jewelry company Global Royalty Trading SAL (GRTS) within one month from today.
According to a news portal Malaysiakini journalist, Judge Datuk Quay Chew Soon, in allowing the company's claim against Rosmah, also ordered the wife of former prime minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak to pay Malaysian Ringgit 75,000 in costs to the plaintiff. The judge also ordered Rosmah to pay separate costs of Malaysian Ringgit 75,000 to the third party, namely the police, in the lawsuit.
Quay's order was made following a full trial of the civil lawsuit filed by GRTS over 43 pieces of jewelry delivered to Rosmah for viewing, which were never returned to the company.
