Chaos In General Assembly—At one time it was MIC and now Bersatu!
Popularly known as Bersatu, chaos broke out at Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM)’s eighth annual general assembly late last night when several members shouted at party president Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md Yasin, better known as Muhyiddin Yassin, as he delivered his keynote speech.
FMT reported that a small group was heard calling on Muhyiddin to step down after he revealed that some quarters were collecting signatures to oust him.
Party officials quickly moved in to calm the situation and escort the group out of the hall.
In response to the group calling for Muhyiddin’s resignation, the majority of the delegates broke out into chants of “Hidup Tan Sri” in his support.
In his speech, Muhyiddin said if signatures could be collected to unseat the president, the same could be done against other leaders in the party.
“Division chiefs, Armada chiefs, Srikandi chiefs, Srikandi Muda chiefs, associate chiefs and all division committee members could face the same fate,” he said.
Muhyiddin reminded the delegates to remember the party’s constitution and regulations and maintain order and harmony.
He assured the delegates that Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional were in the best position to win the next general election and form the government.
“I advise you to stop stirring up trouble. Avoid discord among us. Discard all negative attitudes that weaken us.
“In this spirit, I call on all of us to close ranks, soften our hearts and strengthen our bonds of brotherhood so each and every one of us becomes a fortress and shield united against our enemies out there,” FMT quoted Muhyiddin as saying.
