Two Facebook administrators arrested for insulting Johor and Selangor Royals

Police arrested two individuals yesterday for insulting the Royal institution through social media postings recently, New Straits Times reported just now.
The 41-year-old owner and administrator of Facebook page 'Flat Earth Malaysia' was detained in Kampung Sungai Kati, Ipoh, Perak, for his posting insulting the Johor Royal institution, while 47-year-old owner and administrator of Facebook page 'Iman Mustaqim' was arrested in Langkap, Perak, for uploading a post insulting Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said that both of them were remanded for three days until Sept 2 for further probe as per Section 117 of Criminal Procedure Code.
"The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
"Police would like to remind the people to be wise and careful while using social media to avoid issuing any statement that can undermine harmony and unity especially involving 3R issue (ruler, religion and race)," the English daily quoted him as saying in a statement today.
