PM Anwar to deliver Khutbah Jumaat in New York, USA this Friday

New Straits Times reported today Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to deliver the Friday prayer sermon at the Islamic Cultural Center of New York (ICCNY) mosque this Friday.
The Prime Minister is the first foreign leader to be given the honor of delivering a sermon at the historic ICCNY mosque, which is the first mosque opened in New York City on September 25, 1995, which also houses the headquarters of the United Nations (UN).
The invitation to deliver the sermon was announced by Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir during a press conference with Malaysian journalists at the Office of the Permanent Representative of Malaysia in New York yesterday afternoon.
ICCNY is an Islamic religious and cultural organisation established in the early 1960s. The centre was planned as a Muslim institution consisting of a mosque, school, library, lecture hall, museum, and house for the Imam.
Its objectives include serving the Muslim community in Manhattan in particular and the entire American Muslim community in general.
This includes their religious needs and as a place of worship, classes to help them and the children learn detailed knowledge about their religion, Islam and enlighten the public with real knowledge about Islam.
