"Hindus in India love me"

India Today reported on March 25, 2023, Indian fugitive and Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, who delivered his first lecture 'The Quran is a Global Necessity' in Oman, said the majority of Hindus in India love him. According to reports, he made the remark while speaking at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday, which also marks the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

“The problem is that the majority of Hindus in India love me. They love me so much that it is creating a problem for the vote bank. In India, when I do talks and meetings, there are hundreds and thousands of people, 50 million to 100 million, especially in Bihar and Kishanganj, and out of these, 20 per cent are non-Muslims," the portal quoted Zakir Naik as saying.

Zakir Naik, who is a permanent resident in Malaysia, is wanted for questioning in India for alleged money laundering and other criminal activities.

Meanwhile, FMT reported today, controversial preacher Zakir Naik will return back to Malaysia after attending several religious programmes in Oman, according to his lawyer Akberdin Abdul Kader.

“He will surely be back soon after finishing all the programmes there,” Akberdin told Harian Metro.

However, Akberdin said he couldn’t go into details as it was a matter of his client’s safety.

Last Friday, Akberdin dismissed claims that Naik was arrested in Oman and deported to India.

The lawyer said Naik had in fact been given a state reception in its capital, Muscat.

“He texted me to say he was safe and staying at a hotel,” Akberdin told the news portal.

Naik also told him that news of his alleged arrest was nothing more than “fabricated news” by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government-controlled media.

Naik holds permanent residence in Malaysia and is living in Putrajaya.

He is wanted for questioning in India for alleged money laundering and other unlawful activities.
